WHAT IS URBANISM?
Cities are an open project, in continuous design, shaping and reinvention. They are the result of both small and great actions of all of us. They are physical constructions, but also expressions of the culture, of the share values and the ways of living of a society.
The challenge of designing the city’s space, imagining and giving shape to the places where we live, work, learn and live together is the Architect’s role, especially of those holding a specialized degree in Urbanism.
BEING AN ARCHITECT: A ROLE IN SOCIETY
As in a symphonic orchestra, where the various instruments contribute to musical richness, many disciplines and technicians of different backgrounds sum their knowledge in the management and organization of cities and the territory.
However, it is the role of the Architects, through Project and Design, to coordinate and synthesize the joint effort of the many hands that produce the fantastic works that are the cities, taking an active part in the life, culture and challenges of city life.
URBANISM IN FA
The Master Programme offers a Master degree in Architecture centred on a consistent, integrated and multi-scale approach, from the design of buildings and interior spaces to the shaping of urban and territorial spaces: building complexes, public spaces, parts of cities, towns and urban agglomerates, metropolitan areas, landscapes and territories of regional scope. Topical and relevant issues such as urban rehabilitation, public space requalification, and regeneration of areas in loss are of prime concern in the training, together with the integration of new technologies in the design and organization of urban life.
THE VALUE OF SPECIALIZATION
When the times comes for you to decide about the course you should choose, there are numerous options, which can raise doubts and fears about the next step. The Integrated Master in Architecture with specialization in Urbanism is aimed at all students with a special interest in Architecture. The training acquired in the first three years (Bologna 1st cycle – Licenciatura in Architectural Studies), is later reinforced with a component of Urbanism (Bologna 2nd cycle – Mestrado) that becomes a differentiation and competitive factor in the national and international labor market.
